Thought No.17

I am not discussing Christmas and New Year.

What I will discuss is my little corner of the internet. Last year I was looking at domain names that are taken under the name of Simon Brown. Of course the usual simonbrown.com, .co.uk and simon-brown.co.uk etc. All taken, and most have very long lease expiry times. Yet no one seemed to own simon-brown.org. Which was interesting. So I thought (and I was being impulsive at this point), hey thats my name, that should belong to me.

So google seemed to give me a pretty good deal, they provide dns hosting through 'Godaddy'. The provide full dns control panel, 90 subdomains and 200 email addresses with hosting for 10 dollars. That's for one year. I thought, that's not a bad deal.

Now setting up a dns server is a lot more complicated than you might think. You have to setup A records and MX records. Along with a bunch of stuff on the server you're pointing it to.

Anyway I think it's all working now. So lets welcome the new home of this blog:
